OPETH's 'Spinal Tap' Moment In Miami; Video Available
May 31, 2008Swedish metallers OPETH experienced a "Spinal Tap" moment last night (Friday, May 30) during their concert at The Fillmore in Miami, Florida as part of the Progressive Nation tour with DREAM THEATER. While the band was performing the song "Baying of the Hounds", the stage curtain fell and the group's drummer Martin "Axe" Axenrot and keyboardist Per Wiberg were completely out of sight for the rest of the track. (It reportedly took 20 minutes for the curtain to be lifted back up.)
Fan-filmed video footage of the incident can be viewed below (clip begins right after the curtain fell during the "Baying of the Hounds" performance).
A pre-taped interview with OPETH aired last night on IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson's weekly BBC 6 Music radio show, aptly named "The Bruce Dickinson Friday Rock Show". Listen to a replay of the program at BBC.co.uk.
"Watershed", the new album from OPETH, is scheduled for release on June 3 via Roadrunner Records (one day earlier internationally). The CD, recorded in the band's native Sweden and produced by frontman/guitarist Mikael kerfeldt and Jens Bogren, is a masterwork that follows the time-honored OPETH tradition; its modern yet timeless, progressive yet paying homage to the sounds of classic rock.
